Sherlock Holmes novels will have sequels: the author chosen for the famous detective’s re-birth is Anthony Horowitz (1956), English novelist and screenwriter, who has written over fifty books, including many children’s novels such as The Power of Five, Alex Rider and The Diamond Brothers series. He has also written extensively for television, adapting many of Agatha Christie’s Hercule Poirot novels for the ITV series. He is the creator and writer of the ITV series Foyle’s War, Midsomer Murders and Collision.
Anthony Horowitz was born in 1956 in Stanmore, Middlesex, into a rich family. His father was councillor of prime minister Harold Wilson. Facing bankruptcy, Horowitz’s father removed his wealth from his bank accounts and hid it away under a pseudonym, but when he then died, the family was never able to find the missing money. Horowitz enjoyed reading books from his father’s library; his mother introduced him to Frankenstein and Dracula. From the age of eight, Horowitz knew he wanted to be a writer, realising “the only time when I’m totally happy is when I’m writing”. Graduated from the University of York with a BA in English literature in 1977, he now lives in North London with his wife Jill Green, the producer of Horowitz TV series Foyle’s War.

E’ anche ideatore e creatore delle serie sempre per la Tv Foyle’s War, Midsomer Murders (in Italia: L’Ispettore Barnaby) and Collision.
Horowitz è nato nel 1956 a Stanmore, Middlesex in una famiglia benestante. Suo padre fu consigliere del Primo Ministro Harold Wilson. Temendo una bancarotta, nascose il denaro della famiglia, che, dopo la sua morte, non fu mai più ritrovato. Al Horowitz è sempre piaciuto leggere e sua madre lo introdusse alla lettura di Dracula e Frankenstein. Dall’età di otto anno ha sempre pensato di diventare scrittore : “sono felice solo quando scrivo” ha detto in un’intervista.
