Jasper Fforde (1961 -) was born in a very important English family: his father was John Standish Fforde, the 24th Chief Cashier for the Bank of England. He was educated at the progressive Fforde’s first novel, The Eyre Affair, was published in 2001, followed by Lost in a Good Book, The Well of Lost Plots, Something Rotten: all of them feature as a protagonist Thursday Next. Another series of success, Nursery Crime, is formed by The Big Over Easy (2005), initially entitled Who Killed Humpty Dumpty? and The Fourth Bear. These books describe the investigations of DCI Jack Spratt. In 2009 appeared Shades of Grey, in 2010 he produced The Last Dragonslayer and other books are announced in 2011-12: One of our Thursdays is Missing, The Last Great Tortoise Race and Spring 2012

Dopo aver frequentato una scuola molto dinamica e progressista, i suoi primi anni di carriera li ha trascorsi nell’industria cinematografica dove a lavorato alla realizzazione di film come Il Process, Quills, GoldenEye e Entrapment.
Il suo primo romanzo, Il Caso Eyre, è del 2001, seguito da Perso in un Buon Libro, Il pozzo delle Trame Perdute, Qualcosa di Marcio: tutti hanno come protagonista Thursday Next Un’ altra serie di successo, Criminy della Culla, è formata da The Big Over Easy, inizialmente intitolato Chi ha ucciso Humpty Dumpty? E Il Quarto Orso. Questi libri descrivono le investigazioni di DCI Jack Spratt. Nel 2009 e stato prodotto Ombre di Grigio e nel 2010 L’ultimo Ammazzadraghi .
