Jonathan Safran Foer  (1977 – ) is an American Jewish (ebreo americano) author  who  graduated (si è laureato) from Princetonin 1999 with a degree in Philosophy. In 1995 Safran Foer had the chance to take part in an introductory writing course with author Joyce Carol Oates. The writer was  interest in Foer’s way of writing and supported (sostenne) his idea to travel to Ukraineto expand his thesis (resi) and know more about his grandfather’s life, the Holocaust survivor (sopravvissuto all’Holocausto) Louis Safran. This experience supplied him (gli fornì) the material for his best known novel Everything Is Illuminated(2002) about his journey to Ukrainein search of (alla ricerca di) Augustine, the woman who saved his grandfather’s life during the Nazi period. The following work is Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close(2005) about a nine-year-old boy, who,  after his father’s death, discovers a key in a vase and search all of New Yorkfor information about it . Everything Is Illuminated was adapted into a film in  2005, written and directed by Liev Schreiber,  starring Elijah Wood and Eugene Hütz.
